What is SparkPeople IM on SparkPeople?
SparkPeople IM is an IM network for SparkPeople users that is powered by Meebo! Chat with your friends through the IM bar at the bottom of the SparkPeople site.
What is SparkPeople IM on Meebo?
Chat on Meebo and your SparkPeople friends will appear on your buddy list just like your other chat buddies do (i.e. Yahoo, MSN, AIM, etc.). To access your SparkPeople IM account through Meebo simply add your SparkPeople login details to your Meebo network accounts page.
If you don't have a Meebo account. It's pretty quick and painless to create one. We have all the steps to create a Meebo account linked and ready to go.
To add your SparkPeople login to Meebo
- Log in to Meebo.com
- Click the “account” link at the top of the page
- Enter your SparkPeople log in details
- Click save
How do I add a SparkPeople friend?
Login to your SparkPeople account at http://www.sparkpeople.com/ and add friends just as you normally do from their profile pages. They will be automatically added to the SparkPeople IM friend list in the IM Bar, and also when you log in through Meebo.
How do I remove a SparkPeople friend?
Login to your SparkPeople account at http://www.sparkpeople.com/ and remove the friends from your “My Friends” list. They will be automatically removed from your SparkPeople IM friend list in the IM Bar, and also when you log in through Meebo.
How do I refresh my buddy list?
You shouldn't have to refresh it at all! But if you need to, just minimize the buddy list to refresh it!
How do I change my status message?
Simply click the drop down arrow next to your user name and choose away or busy.
After you have selected your status, you can choose to leave a personal message to go along with that by entering text in the field right below your user name where it says “type a status message here.”
How do I sign out of SparkPeople IM?
Open up your SparkPeople buddy list, click the drop down arrow to the right of your user name, and choose sign off chat.
How do I sign back into SparkPeople IM?
On the bottom right of the page you'll see “You are offline. Sign on now. Click the box and you will be signed back in.
How do I block someone on SparkPeople?
To block someone while on SparkPeople:
- Log into your SparkPeople account
- Open your SparkPeople buddy list
- Select the drop down arrow under the SparkPeople Icon in the SparkPeople IM bar
- Select "block"
To block someone while logged into your SparkPeople account on Meebo:
- Log into your SparkPeople account on Meebo
- Under your SparkPeople group, right click on the SparkPeople you would like to block
- Select “block”
Note: You should not receive another message from the person you've block. The SparkPeople username should remain blocked until you unblock them.
How do I report abuse?
To report a user while on http://www.sparkpeople.com/:
- Log into your SparkPeople account
- Open your SparkPeople buddy list
- Select the drop down arrow under the persons SparkPeople Icon
- Select report
What is the Meebo Pop-out?
The Meebo pop-out will allow you to interact with your SparkPeople buddies in another browser. You'll notice at the bottom left of your SparkPeople IM buddy list is a pop out icon. 
When you click this Icon a separate browser will open and take you to meebo.com, automatically load your SparkPeople IM buddy list.
Features in Meebo that are currently not supported for SparkPeople IM
Unfortunately, some of the things you can do in Meebo for other networks aren't yet supported for SparkPeople IM.
- Renaming a user
- Dragging and dropping a friend to invite to a conference
- Starting a group chat
- Chat logs
- Invisibility
Compatible Browsers
SparkPeople IM should display and function properly with most major browsers. Recently we've seen some issues with IE8 Beta. You'll have to make sure and click the Compatibility View button in the tool bar in order for the IM bar to display correctly.
