Welcome to Meebo! This guide should help you get started with visiting meebo chat rooms.

Note: The images in this guide may not be accurate since release 20 changed the look of Meebo. However, everything else should basically be the same.

Create a meebo room

To create your own meebo chat room, check out Create a Meebo Room.

Visit a meebo room

1. Log into meebo
2. Click on the meebo rooms link at the top of your meebo page
3. The meebo rooms console will appear
4. Click on one of the featured rooms to join the room
   or click on the more… link to display more rooms
5. To search for a room, enter a search word/phrase into the Find more rooms… text box, then click on the search icon

You can also visit rooms from the Meebo Rooms Gallery.

Search for a room

1. Enter the search string in the Find more room… text box at the top of the meebo room console

Accessing featured rooms community

You can access what featured rooms are currently available by visiting Featured Meebo Rooms. Meebo users can sign in to their account after they have visited a meebo room from this web address.

Become a Room Member

1. Click on Become a Member at the top of the meebo room
2. The room will be added to your meebo buddy list within the Meebo Rooms group

You must be logged in using your meebo account to become a member of a meebo room. If you don't have a meebo account and would like to visit the room again, you can bookmark the room url.

Invite Buddies to a Room

1. Click on Invite at the top of the meebo room
2. Invite dialog box will appear. Select the buddies from the list you want to invite and click Invite at the bottom of the dialog box.

You can also drag your buddies from your meebo buddy list into the room guest list area on the right side of the room.

Set Nickname

You can change your nickname that others see when you visit a room.

1. Right click on your screen name within the room guest list
2. Select Set Nickname
3. Type in a new nickname and hit the Enter key

There is no option to change the color of your name within the room. It is currently automatically assigned.

Moderating

Muting

When you mute a person, you will no longer be able to view the person's conversation (what they type).

Warning

When you warn someone, the person will receive a message that they have been warned. After a few warnings from different individuals, the person will be muted.

1. Right click on the guest within the rooms guest list
2. Select Warn or Mute

Chat Logs

If a room is a public room, past chat conversations for the room will be available.

1. Enter the room, click on View Chat Logs… within the conversation area
   (If the room is private, View Chat Logs link will not be available)

Currently, there is not option to delete room chat logs.

PM a User

You can private message a person in the chat room.

1. Double-click on the user name on the room guest list you want to PM
2. A chat window will appear for you to PM the room visitor

Add Meebo User From Room to Buddy List

You can add a meebo user that you met in a meebo room to your buddy list.

1. Double click on the meebo user from the room guest list
2. An IM chat window will appear, click on the add buddy icon at the top of the window
