Meebo allows you to change your presence and your status. Your presence indicates whether you are currently available to chat. Your status is a brief message that people looking at your profile will see. Different social networks handle status and presence in different ways, so how your account will appear to your buddies will vary from network to network

Changing your presence

You can change your presence by clicking your current presence (to the right of your buddy icon) and selecting a new presence from the drop-down list. You can choose from:

• Available - indicates that you are currently online and available to chat.
• Away - indicates that you are online, but you are busy, away from your computer, or otherwise unavailable to chat.
  
  You can set a status message when you set the Away presence by selecting one of the messages from the drop down list (I'm busy, I'm sleeping, etc). Select Edit to create a new status that explains why you are unavailable to chat at this time.
• Invisible - in most networks you will appear to be offline to your buddies. Some networks do not support the invisible presence and will show you as busy or away. The network list indicates how buddies on your various networks will see you.

Changing your status

To change your status click inside the chat bubble that emanates from your buddy icon, and then type your new status. Your friends on networks that support status messages will see this status. Note that some networks will truncate this status after a certain number of characters.
