MiniBar Browser Extension FAQ

How do I get the MiniBar?

Go to http://www.meebo.com/new/download. You should see your browser selected automatically, but if the wrong browser is selected, you can change it.

Do I have to have a Meebo account to get the MiniBar?

No, but to use any of the add-on features (check-ins, feeds, chat, etc.), you will need to sign in to the add-on with a verified Meebo username.

What happens when I check in using the MiniBar?

When you check in to a site, the check-in will appear on your public profile and in the feeds of anyone who is following you. For more information, see check-ins and following.

Is there a way I can temporarily disable or hide the MiniBar?

Yes; click the Hide icon on the right side of the MiniBar to hide it.

I am not seeing the MiniBar on some sites. Why not?

The MiniBar will not appear on sites that use HTTPS. If the url of the site begins with https:// rather than http://, the MiniBar will be disabled.

How do I uninstall the MiniBar?

In Firefox:

  1. Go to Tools->Add-Ons.
  2. Choose the Meebo extension (in the Extensions category), and click Remove.

In Google Chrome:

  1. Go to Windows->Extensions.
  2. Choose the Meebo extension and click Uninstall

In Safari:

  1. Go to Safari->Preferences and select the Extensions tab.
  2. Click Uninstall next to the Meebo MiniBar extension.

In Internet Explorer:

  1. Click the start button and select Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista).
  2. Select the Meebo MiniBar extension and click Remove/Change (XP) or Change/Uninstall (Vista).
  3. Confirm the uninstallation.

The MiniBar appears to be slowing down the loading time of my site

We have tested this issue carefully and established that the extension is not holding up page loading time. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari share a page load bug--they will show the last domain that was accessed, even if that request was completed. We are working to resolve this from a display perspective.

I'm using a script-blocking extension for my browser, and it is blocking the MiniBar. How can I make it work?

If you are using a script blocker, such as Firefox NoScript, add the following urls to your white list to enable the MiniBar:
s.meebocdn.net
meebo.com

What happened to the old Meebo FireFox extension?

It still exists, but we encourage you to install the new extension to access our new features.
