Working with Buddy Groups

How are buddies sorted into groups?

Meebo will sort your buddies into groups using the following guidelines:

  • Any friends who are offline will be under the Offline group at the bottom of your buddy list.
  • Some networks allow you to sort your friends into different groups. If you have placed your friends under different groups in these networks, you will see these groups and any online friends in them in Meebo.
  • By default, online Facebook friends will be in the Facebook group. If you have sorted your Facebook friends into groups using Facebook, these groups will appear with your Meebo groups.
  • By default, any online buddies other than Facebook buddies will be in the Buddies group.

Can I change how names are sorted within a group?

You can change how your buddy list is sorted using the Meebo settings for your iPhone. Tap Settings on the iPhone menu, then scroll down to the Meebo icon and tap it. The Sort Order setting under Buddy List shows the current sorting method.

Tap Sort Order to change how your buddy list is sorted.

You can choose to have each group in your buddy list sorted using one of the following methods:

  • Display Name - Each group will be sorted alphabetically by name.
  • Network - Each group will be sorted by network, so all Yahoo buddies will be together, all Meebo buddies will be together, etc. Buddies within a network will be sorted alphabetically.
  • Status - Each group will be sorted by status (“Online”, “Away”, “Busy”, etc.). Note that buddies who are offline will still be moved to the Offline group.

How do I add new groups?

You can add new groups to your Meebo account by logging into your account at meebo.com using a desktop computer. For more information about managing buddies at Meebo.com, click here.
