MEEBO’S FORTUNE 500 CLIENT BASE SKYROCKETS DRIVING TRIPLE YEAR-OVER-YEAR MEEBO BAR REVENUE GROWTH

To further support and accelerate growth, Meebo appoints three new sales vice presidents
February 1, 2012 - Mountain View, CA

Meebo, a consumer Internet company that organizes the web around people and reaches over half the U.S. internet population, has announced three of its sales directors have been promoted to newly created vice president roles. All three will directly lead strategic efforts to support the company's growing roster of leading Fortune 500 brands, which have more than doubled in advertising revenue over the past year.

“To build and engage a real community of loyalists for our brand clients, we need to go beyond just buying mass impressions,” says Deborah Lammon, Vice President of Digital Communications, UM. “We’ve seen true, repeated engagement occur when we deliver an interactive online experience that the audience can lean in to. That’s why Meebo has been a preferred partner over the years for many of our clients and their campaigns; the increased time spent is a testament to the power of their platform.”

Leading the growth of accounts like Microsoft, Melanie Gensler is appointed to Vice President, Strategic Accounts. In this role, Gensler will spearhead efforts with a select group of top-tier Fortune 500 brands providing innovative, customized ad solutions that afford marketers the ability to harness the power of Meebo’s consumer engagement platform. In her previous role as Director of Sales (Northwest), Gensler forged partnerships with key brands like Microsoft, Intel, BestBuy, and others setting the groundwork for this strategic account competence. Based in San Francisco, California, Gensler will manage a national team of sales consultants. Before joining Meebo, Gensler held similar responsibilities at Time Inc. and CNET.

Michael Keohane assumes the position of Vice President, East Coast Sales based in New York. Previously the director of Northeast Sales for Meebo, Keohane was the second hire into the sales organization. Over the past three years, Keohane has been instrumental in shaping the company’s flagship advertising platform and helping pioneer the growth of the company’s sales team. Also a CNET alumnus, Keohane will manage the eastern seaboard as well as the Midwestern operations helping to steward accounts like P&G, Unilever, American Express, Sprint, and more.

Assuming coverage on the other coast, Robert Leon is appointed to Vice President of West Coast Sales. Leon will continue to captain the efforts based in Los Angeles, California, and pick up the Northwest team in his new role. Leon served as Director of Southwest Sales and has influenced the development of some of Meebo’s cutting edge ad offerings including video and sponsored sharing. His accomplishments include large revenue acquisitions and repeat business with brands like Visa, Universal Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment, HTC, and more. Prior to Meebo, Leon held sales roles at Specific Media, MediaMind, and Pricegrabber.

“These three veterans have been instrumental in evangelizing the efficacy of our premium engagement platform to the marketing community at large. Their leadership instincts, tenacity, and people skills has enabled them to build, manage, and lead sales teams to exponential, multi-million dollar revenue gains putting us in a great position as we kick off 2012”, said Carter Brokaw, chief revenue officer of Meebo. “We’re working closer than ever with premium brands to harness the scale and flexibility of our platform and to uncover meaningful insights into the true value of engagement. We can’t ask for a better team to further accelerate our offerings and growth.”

Last year Meebo added new offices in San Francisco, California, and Atlanta, Georgia, to support the rapid expansion of the business. All three vice presidents will continue to report to Carter Brokaw.
