The Company Continues to See Significant Momentum With Usage Metrics and Partnerships, Including Today’s Launch on myYearbook.com, Meebo’s Largest Partner Deployment to Date
April 23, 2009
- Mountain View, CA
Meebo, the company that enables real-time social interactions, today announced a significant expansion of the reach and rollout of its partner program. Leading social network myYearbook deployed Meebo as a persistent feature on every page of the myYearbook site to its user base of 9.7 million unique monthly visitors. Last October, Meebo released a version of its web-based communication technology for seamless integration into third-party websites. Since then, a total of 25 partners have deployed Meebo on their sites, and the rollout is gaining tremendous momentum. Meebo has increased the speed and scalability of deployment so that partners can now deploy Meebo in days, not weeks. In March, 4.3 million unique users accessed the new Meebo service via partner sites, pushing Meebo’s overall reach to above 45 million people every month.
Currently, over 65 leading publishers have signed up to use Meebo for their sites. New partnerships announced today include BasilMarket, eBaum's World, ImageChef, JacketFlap, Paste Magazine, PBWiki, PlayFire, and Webs.com. Additional signed partners include AddictingGames, Bleacher Report, CafeMom, CrispyGamer, Current TV, DailyStrength.org, dotblu, FanPop, Flixster, GGL Global Gaming, ibeatyou, IGN.com, Internet Brands, OperationSports, PerfSpot, Piczo, StarPulse, Sugar Publishing, WhateverLife, Yonja, and dozens more.
“We’re very excited about launching Meebo on myYearbook, our largest partner deployment to date,” said Martin Green, COO, Meebo. “Meebo continues to see tremendous growth as more and more publishers are realizing the value of integrated real-time social interactions. With the simple integration Meebo provides, we expect to see live communications continue to spread across the Web.”
With today’s launch of Meebo on myYearbook, Meebo reached a major milestone in its staged rollout to partners. In addition to being one of the largest social sites in the US, myYearbook is also one of the most active. Highly-engaged myYearbook users visit the site several times per day, creating a tremendous volume of activity between users every second, including friend requests, game plays, and photo uploads – and now instant messages via Meebo – all of which are transmitted through the Meebo service in real time.
“IM is the most requested feature on myYearbook,” said Geoff Cook, CEO, myYearbook. “We are thrilled to work with Meebo to enrich our members’ communications and ultimately drive more engagement. With 1.7 billion page views, myYearbook was the thirteenth-most trafficked site in the US in March according to comScore Media Metrix. Tracking presence and enabling real-time communication for such a site is no easy task. We believe Meebo’s solution to be the most innovative of its type on the market.”
Partners running Meebo on their sites are measuring significant increases in user engagement. The 25 sites that are live today see 13% of their monthly US site visitors using the service. On average, each user sends 30 IMs per day from the Meebo Bar. For partners interested in integrating Meebo into their sites, implementation now only requires a development commitment of a few days. Meebo has therefore significantly lowered the barrier to entry for partners, and enabled the widespread adoption of live communications as a standard application for social sites.
Due to the ease of deployment and expected increases in engagement metrics, new major partners like Webs.com are flocking to the Meebo service every week. Home to more than 20 million websites, Webs.com is a leading social publishing platform. Now, Webs.com site owners can seamlessly integrate Meebo into their websites for use alongside other social features like profiles, photo and video galleries, blogs, and calendars, to create an even greater degree of community, conversation, and interaction.
“Meebo aligns perfectly with our mission to make it easy for anyone to create a social website equipped with the applications and features needed to support an active community of members and contributors,” said Haroon Mokhtarzada, CEO, Webs.com. “Our partnership with Meebo will offer site owners and members a solution for real-time social interactions and communication without having to employ a developer or even touch a site’s code.”
