usability researcher: meebo's end-user advocate
Position located in Mountain View
We're a small team that is looking for a ground-breaker to build Meebo's user-centric design process. We're looking for someone who can empathize with every user frustration and who can take seemingly contradictory user feedback and ask enough questions to pinpoint the real issue. We seek someone who can think on their feet while moderating, get meaningful data from low-fidelity prototypes, synthesize large data sets into a few key bullet points, and maintain consistent usability standards across all of Meebo's products. Members of our team tend to be nice, humble, genuine, and fun. :)
In this role, your responsibilities include:
- Stay up-to-date with relevant research publications, communities, and product trends
- Contribute to all usability efforts from recruiting, experimental setup, moderation, alternative prototype evaluation, analysis, design recommendations, and test reports
- Lightweight prototyping with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript
- Develop testing standards, heuristics, and reports
- Verify that a product design meets expectations for usefulness and satisfaction before moving into production.
- Excellent team player within the business, engineering, and design groups
To be most effective, you will:
- Promote a clean, intuitive experience that Meebo's users will be excited to share with friends and family
- Have the communication and team skills to facilitate logical design discussions within Meebo's business, engineering, and design teams
- Have experience with a variety of qualitative and quantitative testing methods
- Have experience with statistics and experimental design practices; be at ease with statistical analysis tools and data-mining packages and know how to use the data to influence design
- Be familiar with good user interface principles such as: metaphors, direct manipulation, user control, feedback, and error tolerance.
- Be comfortable with wide range of usability research evaluation methods including: questionnaires, interviews, direct observation, and cognitive walk-throughs
- Passionate about Web applications
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, or related field
Please submit resumes/cover letters to jobs@meebo.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
