As a Meebo Server-Side Engineer you will join Meebo’s core team of server developers, build new products and features, and create systems that scale to millions of users. You’ll also work with a team of front-end developers, product gurus, designers, and operations engineers in an agile environment. You will have a direct impact on what users see.
We’re seeking a bright, energetic, and dedicated team player who has strong, versatile computer science fundamentals and who will be a core contributor to architecting, building, and scaling Meebo. You will need strong skills in application and server-side development; experience and interest in designing and building high-volume systems is a big plus.

What does a server developer do at Meebo?
- Develops cool features for millions of users, coding in a mix of Python and C/C++
- Builds the back-end powering a dynamic JavaScript front-end, mobile applications, APIs
- Implements new functionality for the meebo.com site
- Scales the infrastructure for Meebo Check-ins, Bar, Mobile, and Messenger
- Debugs interesting problems
- Explores new technologies (distributed hash tables, document databases, machine learning and classification)
- Plays an active role in their team, helping the whole team build better products and write better software
- Has fun (playing ping-pong and foosball, being in an open office atmosphere, taking part in team offsites)

The candidate must have:
- 3+ years of software development experience (Python or C/C++ experience developing on Linux/Unix preferred)
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent self-training)
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, explaining design decisions, code, bugs, (and ideas on what to have for lunch)
- Ability to adapt, act on feedback, and execute quickly on tasks
- Phenomenal debugging principles and perseverance
- A sense of humo(u)r =p
Big pluses:
- Experience building server-side web applications
- Exposure to creating high performance, scalable systems
- Knowledge of various databases (mysql, CouchDB, Cassandra, etc)
- Familiarity with writing asynchronous, event-driven code
